No Stress Mathematics Exam: Plan, Practice, Perform
POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND
DURING THE MATHEMATICS EXAMINATION
Mathematics is a language in which god has written the universe.
Mathematics reveals its secret only to those who approach it with pure love for its own beauty.
Dear Students,
As you prepare to appear for your Mathematics
examination, remember that success comes not only from hard work but also from
confidence and calmness. You have already practiced, revised, and learned the
concepts — now it is time to trust yourself.
Read each question carefully, manage your time
wisely, and show all steps clearly. Attempt the easy questions first to build
confidence. Avoid careless mistakes in calculations and always recheck your
answers before submitting the paper.
Stay relaxed, think positively, and do not
panic if any question seems difficult. Take a deep breath and try step by step.
Even partial solutions can earn marks.
BEFORE
STARTING THE PAPER
• Read the entire
question paper carefully.
• Check sections,
choices, and instructions.
• Mark easy
questions first.
• Plan time for
each section.
• Stay calm and confident.
WHILE
SOLVING QUESTIONS
• Write correct
question numbers.
• Maintain neat
and clean handwriting.
• Show all steps
clearly.
• Do not skip
steps.
• Draw margins properly.
SOLVING
STRATEGY
• Start with easy
questions first.
• Write formula
before substitution.
• Follow
step-by-step calculations.
• Use rough work space properly.
CALCULATION
CARE
• Avoid doing big
calculations mentally.
• Recheck signs
(+/–).
• Be careful with
decimals, fractions, and roots.
• Write correct
units.
• Box or underline final answers.
WORD
PROBLEMS
• Read the
question twice.
• Write ‘Given’
and ‘To Find’.
• Form the
equation properly.
• Solve stepwise.
• Write the final answer in statement form.
GEOMETRY
/ CONSTRUCTION / GRAPHS
• Use pencil and
scale.
• Draw neat
diagrams.
• Label all points
clearly.
• Mention reasons / theorems where needed.
TIME
MANAGEMENT
• Do not spend too
much time on one question.
• Skip difficult
questions and return later.
• Attempt all
questions.
• Keep last 10–20 minutes for revision.
Time Management
Section A
1 Mark = 1 x 1.5 = 1.5 TO 2 min. ⇒ 2 x 20 = 40 min.
Section B
2 Marks = 2 x 1.5 = 3 TO 5 min. ⇒ 5 x 5 = 25 min.
Section C
3 Marks = 3 x 1.5 = 4.5 TO 6 Min. ⇒ 6 x 6 = 36 min.
Section D
5 Marks = 5 x 1.5 = 7.5 TO 9 min. ⇒ 9 x 4 = 36 min.
Section E
4 Marks (CSB) = 3 x 4 = 6 to 11 min. ⇒ 11 x 3 = 33 min.
Total time = 40 + 25 + 36 + 36 + 33 = 170 minutes
LAST 15 MINUTES CHECKLIST
• Recheck
calculations.
• Verify question
numbers.
• Complete
unfinished answers.
• Check graphs and
diagrams.
• Ensure no question is left blank.
MENTAL
& HEALTH TIPS
• Stay relaxed and
positive.
• Do not panic.
• Avoid comparing
with others.
• Take deep
breaths if stressed.
• Believe in your preparation.
QUICK
MEMORY FORMULA
READ → PLAN → SOLVE → CHECK → RELAX
FAST
TECHNIQUE TO SOLVE THE QUESTIONS
F → Freeze
(Freeze on the problem)
A →
Alternates (Find alternates)
S → Select
(Select the best one)
T → Try
(Try to solve the question)
SMART
WRITING & PRESENTATION TRICKS
·
Leave one line after each
answer (clean look)
·
Use pencil for graphs,
constructions, and figures
·
Underline final answers
·
Highlight formulas/theorems
·
Avoid cutting/overwriting (it
looks messy)
· Examiner should feel: “Wow, this copy is easy to check!”
FORMULA
& THEOREM STRATEGY
·
Write formula first, then
substitute values
·
Memorize standard identities
·
Remember theorem statements
exactly (Geometry)
· Even if the answer is wrong, formula step gets marks.
ATTEMPTING
QUESTIONS SMARTLY
·
Solve Section A (MCQs/1
markers) quickly but carefully
·
Never leave 1-mark or 2-mark
questions
·
Attempt internal choices
wisely (pick what you know best)
·
If stuck (unable to complete),
move on immediately
· Easy marks first = confidence boost
AVOID
SILLY MISTAKES
·
Check signs (+/–)
·
Check brackets while
simplifying
·
Don’t forget
square/units (cm², m³ etc.)
·
Don’t copy numbers
wrong from question
· Recheck decimal placement
ROUGH
WORK METHOD
·
Do rough work side-by-side
neatly
·
Don’t do rough work in
mind
· Keep calculations organized
TIME
SAVING HACKS
·
Learn tables, squares, cubes
till 20
·
Learn common values (√2, √3, sin 30°, cos 45° etc.)
·
Practice mental shortcuts
· Don’t overthink easy questions
DURING
DIFFICULT QUESTIONS
·
Don’t panic
·
Break into small steps
·
Write whatever steps you know
·
Attempt partial solution
· Step marking can still give 2–3 marks
EXAM
HALL DISCIPLINE
·
Carry 2 pens, pencil, eraser,
scale, admit card
·
Reach early
·
Read instructions carefully
·
Stay focused on your own paper
· Less stress = better thinking
FINAL
GOLDEN RULE
“Accuracy >
Speed”
It’s better to solve 15 questions correctly than 20 questions with mistakes.
