Question 1

If a table is purchased for ₹ 1200 and sold for ₹ 1080, then find the Loss %

Answer : 10 %

Question 2

After allowing a discount of 12 % on M.P. of an article it is sold for ₹ 880, then find the Marked Price.

Answer : 1000

Question 3

If cost price of 18 mangoes is same as selling price of 16 mangoes, then find the gain %.

Answer : 12.5 %

Question 4

A shopkeeper purchased 200 bulbs for ₹ 10 each. However, 5 bulbs were fused and had to be thrown away. The remaining were sold at ₹ 12 each. Find gain % or loss %.

Answer : Profit 17%

Question 5

Mohan bought a second hand refrigerator for ₹ 2500 then spent ₹ 500 on its repair and sold if for ₹ 3300. Find his loss or gain %

Answer : Profit 10 %

Question 6

Bharti bought two fans for ₹ 1200 each. She sold one at a loss of 5% and the other at a profit of 10%. Find total profit or loss

Answer : Profit % = 2.5%

Question 7

Sangeeta allows 8% discount on market price of suit and still makes a profit of 15%. If her gain over the sale of suit is ₹ 156, then find the Market price of suit.

Answer : Marked Price = 1300

Question 8

A dealer allows a discount of 16% to his customers and still gains 5%. Find the M.P. of table which cost him 1200.

Answer : Marked Price = ₹ 1500

Question 9

Mohan bought cooler for ₹ 5400 including GST at 7 %. Find original price of the cooler.

Answer : Original Price = ₹ 5778

Question 10

Harsha went to the market to purchase a suit. She finalised the suit whose marked price was ₹6000, Shopkeeper offers a discount of 25 % on it. Find the discount given by the shopkeeper and the selling price of the suit. 
If after allowing a discount of 25% , the shopkeeper still makes a profit of 10%, then what was the cost price of the suit for the shopkeeper.

Ans. Discout = ₹ 1500 and S.P. = ₹4500. CP = ₹ 4091 

Question 11

A man purchased two fan for ₹ 2160. By selling one fan at  a profit of 15% and the other at a loss of 9%. He neither gain nor losses on the whole transection. Find cost price of each fan.

Answer :
C.P. of first fan = ₹810
C.P. of second fan = ₹1350
Solution Hint:
Let CP of first fan = x
Profit = 15%

C.P. of second fan = 2160 - x
Loss = 9%

As the person have no loss no profit on the whole transection so
Total SP of two fans = CP of two fans

115x + 91(2160 - x) = 216000

⇒ x = 810

C.P. of first fan = ₹810
C.P. of second fan = ₹1350

Question 12

Ramesh marked his goods at 40% above the cost price but allows a discount of 5% for cash payment to his customers. What actual profit does he make if he receives ₹1064 after allowing the discount.

Answer : Actual Profit = ₹264
Solution Hint
Let CP = ₹ 100
MP = 100 + 40% of 100 = ₹ 140
Discount = 5%

Profit = SP-CP = 133-100 = ₹33
If SP = ₹133 then profit    = ₹ 33
If SP = ₹1 then profit        = ₹ 33/133
If SP = ₹1064 then profit  = ₹ (33/133) 1064
                                          = ₹ 264

Question 13

Rekha visit a departmental store and purchases the following articles. Find the selling price of each article including GST.

a) On rain coat of ₹ 300 GST@ 10%

Answer ₹330

b) One pair of shoes of ₹ 460 GST @ 9%

Answer ₹501.40

c) Cloths of ₹ 800 GST @ 1%

Answer ₹808

Question 14

By selling 42 oranges a person loses a sum equal to selling price of 8 Oranges. Find loss %

Answer : Loss 16%
Solution Hint
Let SP of on orange = ₹ 1
SP of 8 oranges       =  ₹ 8
SP of 42 oranges     =  ₹ 42
ATQ
Loss                        = ₹ 8
CP                           = 42 + 8 = ₹ 50

A fruit seller bought Bananas at the rate of ₹ 45 per dozen and sold them at the rate of ₹ 45 per 10 bananas. Find gain or loss %

Answer : 20%
Solution Hint
LCM of 12 and 10  = 60
CP of 12 Bananas   =  ₹ 45
CP of 1 Bananas     =  ₹ 45/12
CP of 60 Bananas   = (45/12)✕ 60 = ₹ 225
SP of 10 Bananas   = ₹ 45
SP of 1 Bananas     = ₹ 45/10
SP of 60 Bananas   = (45/10)✕ 60 = ₹ 270
Profit = 270-225     = ₹ 45

During a monsoon sale, a shop offered a discount of 10% on marked price of all items. What amount was paid by customer in order to buy a saree marked at ₹ 1450 and two shirt marked at ₹ 850 each.

Answer :
Total amount paid by the customer = ₹ 315

Question 17

A shopkeeper has enough money to buy 40 books each costing ₹125. How many books he can buy if he gets a discount of ₹ 25 on each book.

Answer : 50 Books
